| A
Garden at Bronte |
||
Critical acclaim for "The Garden at Bronte" ."...a garden featuring 1500 plant varieties
yet, incredibly, managing to avoid chaos. Instead there is a sense of
generosity and drama that gives you a thrill as soon as you step through
the gate. The garden is one of my favourites in Sydney...and now I can
store it on my bookshelf, with The Garden at Bronte." "The
Garden at Bronte is a celebration of the life of one garden. Though
it
largely deals with how Leo Schofield has brought this garden, whose history
is discussed with casual and very readable ease, from mediocrity to
one
of the most exciting private gardens in the country, it is not so much
the story of its creation or even of its re-creation. It is the story
of its ongoing life - now entirely re-invigorated - and a
profound reminder that the quality of the day-to-day care of a garden,
here discussed at length, is at least as important as the quality of
the
original idea. |
